Wait at a Geelong hospital emergency department balloons to almost 12 hours
Some people attending a Geelong emergency department overnight were forced to wait for almost twelve hours.
Wait times at University Hospital Geelong blew out on what was a “particularly challenging” night for the hospital.
Director of emergency services at Barwon Health, Dr Belinda Hibble, says demand has been “building for the last couple of months in between escalating COVID-19 outbreaks”.
“It’s a little bit of everything and that’s why it’s been really quite tricky for the system to sort of manage,” she told Jacqui Felgate, filling in for Dee Dee.
