Glen Eira City Council Acting Chief Executive Officer Ron Torres addressed the matter on 3AW Drive.
“On behalf of the Commonwealth Government, Council holds a number of ceremonies at Glen Eira Town Hall each year. The Mayor of Glen Eira hosts the ceremonies, with key speakers and parliamentary representatives also invited to attend,” he said.
“As part of Council’s Citizenship Ceremonies during Wednesday’s citizenship ceremony, Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP provided a message on behalf of Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, welcoming new citizens of Glen Eira to Australia.
“During this speech Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah spoke of the ability to cast a vote and encouraged new citizens to vote yes to the Voice to Parliament when the referendum occurs later in the year.
“The Voice to Parliament is a Federal Government Policy. Should you have any follow up enquires they can be directed to the offices of Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP office or Andrew Giles MP.”
