Victoria’s new Governor revealed
The 30th Governor of Victoria has been appointed.
Academic Margaret Gardner, who is currently Monash University Vice-Chancellor, will commence her five-year term as Governor on August 9.
Speaking to media today, Professor Gardner said the appointment was “unexpected”.
“I can tell you absolutely I was not expecting it!,” she said.
Outgoing Governor Linda Dessau will stand down on June 30.
Lieutenant Governor, Professor James Argus, will serve as acting Governor until Professor Gardner’s inauguration.
