Victoria’s major trauma hospital plagued by major pest problem

Victoria’s major trauma hospital, The Alfred, has been infested by rodents, with the Herald Sun reporting animal faeces have been found on beds and mice have been seen running across hospital rooms and operating theatres.

The alarming revelations come almost a year after a top trauma doctor at the hospital sounded the alarm about “hopeless” conditions at the hospital.

Alex Krstic from Wildpro Pest Control says rodent problems can become serious very quickly.

“They’re definitely capable of causing significant problems as far as spreading disease, their gnawing behaviour causes issues with electrical wiring, damage to property,” he told Ross and Russel.
