Victorians have been warned for a “strong possibility” of leeches increasing due to the wet weather experienced in recent times.

Leeches have hit New South Wales and Sydney in particular pretty hard.

Gerard Dallow, head technician for Micropest Pest Control Sydney, explained what leeches are and the likelihood of the insects making their way down to Victoria.

“Its the moisture that attracts them, they’re a wet weather insect,” Mr Dallow told Neil Mitchell.

“It’s a strong possibility, there’s nothing much you can do about them.”
