Victorian commuters will be hit with a “big” public transport fare hike next month.

Press PLAY below to hear how much a Myki will cost from next month

The cost of a daily Myki fare will rise to $10, a nine per cent increase.

Spokesperson from the Public Transport Users Association, Daniel Bowen, says it’s a “big” rise and it’s unexpected.

“Usually they do the fare rises in January,” he told Ross and Russel.

“$10 a day will be the standard Myki fare which is not too bad if you’re travelling a long distance – that includes V/Line now so that’s pretty good – but for those travelling around Melbourne it’s stinging you pretty hard for what might be quite a short journey.”
