Victorians Party co-founder blasts pay rises for politicians
The co-founder of the Victorians Party — a fledgling party hoping to be a new force in Victorian politics at the state election — has taken aim at pay rises for politicians.
Victoria’s politicians will pocket a 2.75 per cent pay rise from next month.
The independent Remuneration Tribunal decides on MPs salaries and their expense allowances, but -founder of the Victorians Party, Bill Lang, says it’s not making decisions most Victorians would support.
“There’s a couple of people on the tribunal … career ACTU industrial relations and career public servants,” he told Tom Elliott.
“I hardly say that these people on the tribunal are really making an assessment taking into account the views of all Victorians.”
