Victorian town installs parking spaces for horses
The small town of Toora, near Wilsons Promontory, is installing parking spaces for horses.
President of the Toora Community Action Team, Anna Hopkins, says trail riding is popular in the region and the parking gives riders a chance to stop and grab a beer or a coffee and a bite to eat.
“There was an idea about it years ago and it never really kicked off,” she told Emily Power and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.
“We had room to do it an an awesome rail trail that passes right through the bottom of our main street, so we started making plans and put it to council and got it happening.”
There are currently six horse parking bays in the town’s main street, with plans to expand if the idea proves popular.
