LATEST: Victorian government tightens COVID-19 restrictions before Christmas
Masks will be mandatory in ALL indoor settings other than the home in Victoria from 11.59pm.
The rule applies to anybody aged over eight.
The government announced a tightening to COVID-19 rules on Thursday.
Masks will also be required when moving around major events with more than 30,000 people in attendance, such as the Boxing Day Test, but not when seated outdoors.
Victorians are also again being encouraged to work from home.
“We are not considering going into lockdown,” Acting Premier James Merlino said.
The government has also reiterated calls to reduce the wait time for booster shots, committing $31 million to the rollout program.
Over the coming weeks, 28 vaccination pop-ups will be opened and current, fixed, sites will expand to operate 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
