Victorian classrooms still waiting for promised air purifiers
Victorian students are back in classrooms full time, but just over ten per cent of air purifiers promised for state schools have been delivered.
In September, the state government committed to distribute 51,000 devices to all public and low-fee Catholic schools.
But only about 6000 have been delivered so far.
Education Minister James Merlino says there’s huge global demand and the rollout is progressing as quickly as possible.
“The full order has been made for those 51,000 air purifiers, they’re being delivered by air freight, so as quickly as possible. The moment it lands in the state we are getting it distributed to schools,” he said.
