Victoria Premier clips previous Federal government on lack of Metro Tunnel funding

Jacinta Allan has called out the previous Federal government over their lack of funding for Victoria’s Metro Tunnel project.

The cross-city tunnel will open in 2025, providing a new and quicker way to travel through the CBD and its surrounds.

Ms Allan told Jacqui Felgate future projects like the Suburban Rail Loop will receive more Federal funding, unlike the Metro Tunnel.

“For too long Victorians didn’t get our fair share of infrastructure funding,” she said on 3AW Drive.

“There isn’t a single dollar of Federal infrastructure funding in that project because the Liberal party turned their back on this much-needed project.

“Porjects like this in Sydney were 50-50 funded.”
