In defence of Victoria: Ross and John poke holes in ‘ice capital’ claim
There’s lies, damn lies and statistics.
And Ross and John reckon they’ve poked a hole in some statistical analysis today.
Victoria has been labelled the ice capital of Australian by The Herald Sun because more of the drug has been seized here than any other state.
But Ross doesn’t draw the same conclusion.
“I won’t cop the fact that we’re the ice capital of Australia just on the basic our police mob are good at their job,” said Ross.
“Just because we’ve seized more, that doesn’t mean we’ve got more!” said Burnso.
Ross and John spoke with Professor Nicole Lee at the National Drug Research Institute who says the rate of drug use in Victoria is lower than any other state in the country.
“The more you look for it, the more you’re going to find,” she said on 3AW Breakfast.
“The rate of use in Victoria is actually slightly below the Australian average.”
Professor Lee said Western Australia has the highest recorded percentage of drug use.
And she even nominated which state she believes has the biggest problem with ice.
