Victim’s ‘biggest fear’ after Jeffrey ‘Joffa’ Corfe is spared jail for historical sex abuse
The victim of historical sexual abuse by Jeffrey “Joffa” Corfe says he fears the sentence handed to the former Collingwood cheer squad identity will discourage other victims of abuse from coming forward.
Alex Case told Neil Mitchell he had questioned whether coming forward was worth it after Corfe was spared jail time for sexually abusing him when he was aged 14 in 2005.
“I guess naively thought going to the police and going through this process (that) by the end of it, at least I would have felt like I’d held him accountable, even if the sentence was inadequate,” Alex told Neil Mitchell.
