Vic Budget: New road for the south-east
A new $300 million road – the Mordialloc bypass – will be included in today’s state budget.
The nine-kilometre arterial road will link the end of the Mornington Peninsula freeway at Chelsea Heights to the Dingley bypass.
As part of the build, an overpass will go up over Springvale Road where the freeway ends to avoid the busy intersection – more details here.
Victoria’s state budget, which is expected to deliver surpluses of $8.3 billion forecast over the next four years, will also include a major shake-up of how the State Emergency Service is funded.
Tomorrow’s state budget will include $15 million to support the SES (exclusive details) and $81 million for new ice rehabilitation beds (another 3AW exclusive here).
Meanwhile, Health and Education are expected to be among the big winners when the budget is delivered after midday.
$174 million will go towards an elective surgery blitz, helping 200,000 Victorians get surgery sooner.
