Urgent recall ordered over potentially contaminated baby formula
Three brands of baby formula have been urgently recalled due to potential contamination.
It has already claimed the life of a child in the United States and hospitalised dozens more.
The brands are EleCare, Similac and Alimentum.
The recall is due to potential contamination with Cronobacter and Salmonella and may cause illness if consumed.
“It’s not very good news for Australian mums today, certainly ones using those products on their babies,” Elke Pascoe, Australian mother of two and founder of LittleOak, told Neil Mitchell.
She said there was every chance of the product still being on Australian shelves.
“There would still be a good amount of product still on the shelves that I’m sure the company is encouraging retailers and mums alike to bring the products back,” she said.
“It’s certainly an unfortunate situation.”
