A leading Australian education voice has cast doubt on a plan to fit ankle bracelets on teen criminals.

Starting in April, offenders’ ankle bracelets will be in state schools under a new plan from the Allan government.

Australian Principals Federation president Tina King told Sunday Morning the plan was an “untenable situation”.

“This has become an untreatable situation for principals and school leaders,” she said.

“How are you supposed to destigmatise individuals where they have a physical monitor on their ankles.”
