United Australia Party claims last Victorian Senate seat

The United Australia Party has secured the last Victorian Senate seat, with Ralph Babet elected to federal parliament.

It comes after Clive Palmer’s $100 million advertising investment in the federal election.

“Despite the advertisements, despite the high public profile, the party’s message just didn’t resonate with enough people,” Dr Zareh Ghazarian, Politics Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Monash University, told Tom Elliott on Monday.
