Union fumes over ‘disturbing’ Melbourne Airport chaos

The Transport Workers Union says it’s “disturbed” by what it’s hearing from staff at Melbourne Airport ahead of the long weekend.

3AW was inundated by reports of “chaos” at Tullamarine on Friday.

It’s prompted TWU national secretary Michael Kaine to take aim at Qantas.

He accused the national airline of “illegally” outsourcing more than 2000 jobs, which has placed serious pressure on the system.

“It’s not a COVID thing, it’s a structural decision by Qantas,” he said.
