A car and a motorcycle collided at Cranbourne East, in Melbourne’s south-east, just after 8.30pm on Tuesday.

The rider, a 41-year-old man, died at the scene and the motorist has been interviewed by police and released pending further enquiries.

Four hours earlier, another motorcyclist died after striking a sign in Upper Ferntree Gully.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.

In a third incident, a motorcyclist crashed into a tree on Mount Dandenong Road in Olinda just before 10pm.

The rider — a 20-year-old man — was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
