Two men charged over wild pursuit and police car ramming in Melbourne’s north
Two men have been charged over a wild pursuit and police car ramming across Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
The pursuit began when a silver Ford falcon ran a red light and crossed onto the wrong side of the road at Broadmeadows just before 4pm yesterday.
The driver dumped the vehicle in Campbellfield before being picked up by an associate in a black Holden ute.
The ute reached speeds in excess of 100 kilometres an hour on Sydney Road, crossing onto the wrong side of the road at times.
Police closed in when the men entered an underground carpark at Coburg.
A police car was rammed a number of times before two men — aged 32 and 31 — were arrested.
A search of the ute uncovered quantities of suspected GHB, methylamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia.
They’ll face the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court today on a string of driving and drugs charges.
