Two Melbourne teenagers in critical condition after being poisoned overseas
Two Melbourne teenagers are in a critical condition overseas due to methanol poisoning.
The group of girls, who attended Beaumaris Secondary College and graduated in 2023, have been travelling through Thailand and Laos where it’s believed their drinks were spike with the toxic chemical.

“I think it’s one of those stories where if you have teenage kids, you go home and hug them a little tighter,” Jacqui Felgate said on 3AW Drive.
“I understand at least two of these girls (travelling) have become critically ill.”
Forensics expert, Professor David Ranson, said methanol poisonings are a “striking problem around the world” and are not as uncommon as people might think.
“This is a terrible story, an absolutely awful story,” Professor Ranson said.
