Two killed in crash at Ballarat

Two people have been killed in a crash at Ballarat.

Police said the ute was on Scott Parade, near Ligar Street, when it hit a tree around 1am on Friday.

The male driver died, so too his male passenger.

Their identities have not yet been released.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

The deaths take the state’s road toll to 163.

It was 195 at the same time last year.
