The Ballarat Football League as well as the Maryborough and Castlemaine District Football League will trial a new card system to cut out umpire abuse among coaches, officials and spectators.

Press PLAY to hear about the new card system

Shane Anwyl, General Manager of the Ballarat Football League, believes this is a step in the right direction.

“What we’re doing is putting in place a process so we don’t get to it being rife,” Mr Anwyl told Ross and Russel.

“It allows umpires to deal with inappropriate behaviour in real time.”
