Two cases of COVID-19 at Melbourne Cup
The Victorian Racing Club has confirmed there were two cases of COVID-19 at the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.
The positive cases were a contractor and a patron who attended the Flemington racecourse.
The contractor worked in the arbor in the purple zone on the ground floor of the club stand for both Derby Day and the Melbourne Cup.
The patron attended the Deck Bar within the green zone on Cup day.
Both are fully vaccinated and the cases are not linked.
Contact tracing is underway and patrons are advised to get tested if they develop symptoms.
The two venues are being deep cleaned and will open for Stakes Day on Saturday.
