Traders at the QVM are against Lord Mayor Robert Doyle’s proposed redevelopment
Traders at the Queen Victoria Market are opposed to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle’s plans to redevelop the market, which would include a 196m apartment & hotel tower.
Spokesman for the Stallholders and Traders Action Group, Phil Cleary, told Tom Elliott that the traders do want the market to be refurbished but not as the Lord Mayor has proposed.
‘The destruction that will bring will really unsettle the whole fabric of that market.’
‘I have not come across anyone who supports the excavation and ripping up of the sheds.’
‘The traders are really upset about it, genuinely upset.’ he said.
