Australia’s peak tourism body is calling for the working holiday visa age threshold to be lifted by 15 years in a bid to attract desperately needed working holidaymakers.

The Tourism and Transport Forum is calling for the working holiday visa age limit to be lifted from 35 to 50.

Chief Executive of the Tourism and Transport Forum, Margy Osmond, applauded the federal government for speeding up the visa approval process, but said more needs to be done.

“Even though there’s been an improvement in numbers we’re not going to get where we need to go if we don’t make a few tweaks to the system because it’s such a competitive market now — every country in the world is competing for those working holidaymakers because they all need them,” she told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Tom Elliott.
