Top roads cop issues warning amid concerning regional trend
Victoria’s top roads cop has issued a warning to regional Victorians amid a spike in fatalities on rural roads.
Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir said 30 of the 45 people killed on Victorian roads so far this year had been killed in regional Victoria.
But he’s shot down the “common misconception that it’s not locals losing their lives” on country roads.
“It’s wrong,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“These are local people losing their lives on local roads.”
