Top lawyer defends ACT controversial decriminalisation decision
A top lawyer has defended the ACT’s decision to decriminalize illicit drugs after it was revealed the territory had been cautioned by the Border Force.
Member of the ACT law society’s criminal law committee, Adrian McKenna, says the territory’s previous decriminalisation of cannabis had been successful.
“It’s an acknowledgement that the last approach for decades in relation to the drug trade and drug use – it’s hard to say it’s been particularly effective,” he told Ross and Russ.
