Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton is calling on Ballarat locals and the public in general not to speculate about what has happened to missing Ballarat East woman Samantha Murphy.

She hasn’t been seen since Sunday after going for a run, with family and friends hitting back at online trolls.

“This is very early days, this is traumatic for the family and friends of Samantha,” Patton told Tom Elliott.

Patton also addressed the concerning trend of tobacco shop fires, as well as whether any more arrests will be made in relation to the Burgertory firebombing in Caulfield.

He also spoke on whether police will attend the Midsumma Pride March next year after the “unfortunate set of circumstances” this year, and then took calls from keen listeners.
