Tom Elliott has urged the Victorian government to avoid overreacting to the Omicron strain of COVID-19.

The 3AW Drive host said the state needed to trust its largely unrivalled vaccination rate.

“We were told by the state and federal governments that if we all got vaccinated, everything will be fine, and we have,” Tom Elliott said.

“Almost nowhere else in the world are there so many people vaccinated as here in Australia.

“We are probably headed towards 95 per cent in Victoria and NSW.

“That many businesses out there have struggled through the past two years, many have closed their doors for good, and the reality is we are just getting back to normal.

“We cannot overreact.

“If the vaccination doesn’t work, then nothing works.”
