Tom Elliott has called out the AFL for their “inconsistent” approach to handing out penalties and suspensions.

Port Adelaide forward Jeremy Finlayson has been suspended for three weeks after he made a homophobic slur towards an Essendon player last Friday night.

It comes just five weeks after North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson escaped a suspension for a similar slur.
