Tom Elliott slams ‘appalling’ Peter Garrett taunt towards Gina Rinehart at recent concert

Tom Elliott has slammed Australian music legend and former politician Peter Garrett for his “utterly appalling” taunt towards billionaire businesswoman Gina Rinehart at a festival last Friday.

The Midnight Oil lead singer encouraged festivalgoers at the Perth Festival to “pretend they’re dancing on Gina Rinehart’s grave”.

And it led the 3AW Mornings host to bring up what happened to now axed radio host Marty Sheargold last week, stating what Garrett did was much worse.

“This is an appalling thing to say … he should be publicly condemned,” he said.

“What Peter Garrett did here is worse,” the 3AW Mornings host said referring to the Marty Sheargold scandal.
