Tom Elliott slams ‘absolutely extraordinary’ planned tax hike by Melbourne council

Tom Elliott says a mooted tax hike by one Melbourne council is “absolutely extraordinary”.

The City of Port Phillip could hit owners of vacant shops with a tax hike of up to 400 per cent, as they look to liven up major streets and thoroughfares in the area.

“I find this absolutely extraordinary,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“The reason there are vacant shops everywhere because consumers are doing it tough.”
