Casual workers on the North East Link project, specifically crane workers, are allegedly earning upwards of $300,000 annually, according to an article written in the Herald Sun this morning.

It comes after stop-and-go sign workers were revealed months ago to earn over $200,000 annually.

“If you wonder why the state government is in deep financial doo-doo … this has to be the reason,” Tom Elliott said.

Major projects editor at the Herald Sun and author of the article, Matt Johnston, then confirmed the salaries of the casual workers, and stated there’s tensions between the CFMEU and the Australian Workers’ Union.

“These are industry rates that are set by CFMEU agreements,” Mr Johnston told Tom Elliott.
