Tom Elliott reacts to ‘astonishing’ slip-up from Anthony Albanese
Tom Elliott admits he found Anthony Albanese’s claim on the ABC this morning “closed borders” were contributing to Australia’s unemployment rate astonishing.
The Labor leader said “closed borders” were contributing to keeping the rate down to four per cent.
“Australia’s borders re-opened back in February? I have been for a very quick trip overseas in that time,” Tom Elliott said.
He said Mr Albanese was beginning to make a habit of making gaffes.
“It’s one thing not being able to remember a specific number, even if it’s important, but to just not realise the basic idea that borders are open and people are travelling in and out of Australia … I find it absolutely astonishing.”
