Tom Elliott says there’s a case to be made for reintroducing corporal punishment, believing it didn’t do any harm when he was growing up.

His comments come ahead of the Queensland election, where several Katter’s Australian Party candidates are pushing to bring back corporal punishment to help fix youth crime levels.

“I’m old enough to be in a generation who did receive corporal punishments,” he said on 3AW.

“I don’t think it did us very harm – people these days don’t seem to understand there is a line between legitimate corporal punishment and child abuse.”
