Italian boxer Angela Carini broke down in tears after she stopped her fight against the Algerian Imane Khelif after 46 seconds which has sparked controversy.

Khelif was disqualified from the women’s world championships last year for failing gender eligibility tests, however is allowed to compete at the Olympics. Carini said she had pulled out after being hit harder than she had ever been hit and was worried her nose was broken.

Tom Elliot thinks it’s “extraordinary that the IOC is allowing boxers who have male characteristics to compete against biological women,” Elliott said on 3AW Mornings.
