Tom Elliott calls for immediate sacking of all senior Cricket Australia officials in wake of review
Tom Elliott has called for senior members of Cricket Australia to stand down following today’s release of the ball-tampering saga review.
The much-anticipated 145-page report into Australia’s conduct in South Africa earlier this year was released on Monday afternoon, with 42 recommendations made to Cricket Australia.
As part of the report compiled by the Sydney-based Ethics Centre, a ‘player’s pact’ will be instilled by Tim Paine and Josh Hazlewood.
He said Cricket Australia was doing itself and the rest of the public a disservice.
“Certain senior people are escaping scrutiny,” he said.
“Cricket Australia is rotten from top to bottom and everyone in charge have to step down and sack themselves.”
“That’s the only way to change a culture.”
Tom singled out Cricket Australia chairman David Peever for criticism, expressing disbelief he was still in the job.
“All of the (report’s findings) have occurred under his watch,” he said.
“Days before the release of this report, he was re-elected for three years. I don’t know David Peever very well but I’ll say this – the fish rots from the head.
“Time to get rid of him.”
