Todd Woodbridge weighs in on 4am Australian Open finish
Andy Murray says finishing his Australian Open match at 4.05am was a “farce”, but it’s just part of the game according to former professional tennis player Todd Woodbridge.
Murray triumphed over Thanasi Kokkinakis in five sets in an epic match lasting five hours and 45 minutes.
While Murray said matches stretching well into the morning aren’t beneficial for anyone, Mr Woodbridge says it’s unavoidable.

“You’ve got to remember that this is a global event with international broadcasters and that plan is set in place months in advance, and look, it varies when we have weather issues like we’ve had this week,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“Every major court has got a 7pm for the evening session and that match could go 45 minutes or it could go four and a half hours … none of it is predictable.”
