Tiny town could lose only post office over vaccine mandate
A tiny town in regional Victoria could lose its only post office because its operator is hesitant to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
But there are reports she may have since changed her mind.
Angela Spedding has operated the Merrigum post office and newsagent for more than six years and had cited her “freedom of choice” for not getting the jab.
But under Victorian state government health orders about 1.25 million authorised workers – including newsagents and post office workers – need to have received at least one dose of the vaccine by Friday.
Rhonda, Owner and Manager of Merrigum Cafe and Convenience store, filled Tom Elliott in on the situation on Wednesday.
