Three arrested after dramatic Ballarat police chase

Three people are in custody over the theft of a ute, an attempted carjacking and a police chase in Ballarat overnight.

Police initially spotted the trio in an allegedly stolen white Holden ute in Sebastopol about midnight.

Suspicious, they kept their eyes on the vehicle throughout the night.

It was about 4am that the three suspects allegedly tried to hijack another vehicle on Remembrance Drive in Alfredton, triggering a police pursuit.

The chase came to and end about 10km later on Webb Road when the ute smashed into a fence.

Police arrested two men, aged 28 and 17, and a 24-year-old woman.
