This Week in Food: Peruvian parties and food fights
THIS WEEK IN FOOD
SEE FOOD: We tend to hibernate a little in Winter, so here’s an excuse to get out of the house on the weekends! Every Sunday lunch in Winter, renowned seafood restaurant The Atlantic at Crown is offering up a two course seafood lunch with BOTTOMLESS Champagne, Mimosas and Pimms cups for $110 per person. https://theatlantic.com.au/
FOOD FIGHT: We love a good battle, particularly if the fight involves food – so bring on the “Battle of the Bays” down in Queenscliff on Friday July 20. Barry Iddles is the mastermind behind it, pitting one of the Bellarine’s favourites Baie Wines against the Mornington Peninsula’s acclaimed Ocean Eight Vineyard at his stunning 360Q Restaurant down at the harbour. They’ll be serving up their best wines, with a five course menu to match – with Moreton Bay Bug sliders on arrival, salmon baos, Duck cassoulet and more. Tickets are a very reasonable $120 a head. https://www.trybooking.com/UJUZ
PERUVIAN PARTY: Scorcher’s off to Peru for his honeymoon soon, so no doubt he’ll be getting to Peru Fest on Saturday 28th July. Held at Batman Royale in Coburg, it’s a day of food, music, dance and drinks, of course all with a Peruvian flavour. Tickets are $10, and of course there’ll be a Pisco bar on site … que bueno! https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/peru-fest-2018-tickets-46311365541
WINTER GETAWAY: Last week we took calls on the best place for a girl’s getaway and one listener nominated Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach NSW. Well, here’s your excuse to check it out! From 17th – 19th August, they’re hosting distinguished Sydney chef Danielle Alvarez for a gourmet weekend. Packages are available for those who want the full shebang – masterclass, showpiece dinner, poolside cocktails and canapés and daily breakfast at Paper Daisy.
