‘This misses the mark’: Opposition leader slams SRL as financially irresponsible

Opposition leader John Pesutto has slammed the state government’s decision to press forward with the SRL as financially irresponsible.

He says the government has put all their eggs in one basket, adding communities not linked to the rail loop will miss out on critical projects.

“This project actually doesn’t respond to the growth patterns around our city, the growth corridors around our region … this project misses the mark by light years,”

He also says the Allan government needs to release the details of the contract.

“We’ve been signed up to a massive debt, and it’s like someone has gone and bought the most expensive house they could find at an auction, and then said we’ll work out how to pay for it later,” he said.
