‘This is unbelievable’: Police officers targeted with laser in Melbourne’s west

Two aircraft crew from the Police Air Wing have suffered eye injuries after a laser was pointed at them early on Sunday morning.

“This is unbelievable,” Victoria Police First Constable Paul Hogan told Ross and Russ on 3AW Breakfast.

The helicopter was flying above the Footscray area when a laser was shone at the aircraft just after midnight.

Air Wing officers directed police on the ground to a Footscray address, where they spoke to a 53-year-old man and seized a laser.

He’s expected to be charged on summons.
