The Boxing Day Test at the MCG is fast approaching with Australia set to do battle against India, who currently have the upper hand over the Australians after winning the first Test in Perth in dominant fashion.

And the MCG, Cricket Australia and the state government are set to put on a three-day Bollywood themed festival outside of the ground, a move Tom Elliott is trying to wrap his head around.

“I find it really odd,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Psychiatrist and social commentator, Dr Tanveer Ahmed, has weighed in on the three-day festival, stating Victoria has one of the highest expatriate Indian communities in the world now.

“I can sort of see the attraction,” Dr Ahmed told Tom Elliott.

“You could almost argue a Bollywood type theme, or an Indian type theme, is virtually Victorian Australian now,” he said.
