Jed Bews has heaped praise on teammate Lawson Humphries, who played a starring role in Geelong’s thumping win over Port Adelaide in Thursday night’s Qualifying Final.

The Cats overpowered the Power by 84 points to book their spot in a Preliminary Final, with Humphries impressing in his maiden career final.

Bews told 3AW Football the 21-year-old was always suited to playing at senior level.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to see him in the VFL – for me it hasn’t really been a surprise,” he said on 3AW.

“I’ve seen it week in, week out (in the VFL) and he’s just gone to a new level.”
