Residents in Wallan are claiming the conditions of Watson Street has been left in terrible conditions for months with reports of multiple damaged tyres.

One resident, Natalie says she drives on the road daily and has been left with a damaged trailer.

“It’s a regular thing for cars to be pulled over on a certain stretch of road with damaged wheels and blown tyres,” she told Jacqui Felgate.

She also says the stretch of road, which is usually an 80km speed road has been slowed to 40km with road work signs put in place.

“But there’s no road works,” she said.

The mayor of Mitchell Shire, Councillor Fiona Stevens, says the council has no authority on the road as it’s owned by the Department of Transport.

“It’s not a council road, but I don’t like to say that with people understanding that’s duck-shove, it’s not a duck-shove at all, it’s the reality, it’s their asset,” she said.
