Tom Elliott has weighed in on Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps’ second Brownlow Medal win last night, polling a record 45 votes to beat Collingwood midfielder Nick Daicos by seven votes.

The 3AW Mornings host said Cripps’ record vote tally is “one of the most extraordinary achievements in Australian rules football” and has a funny feeling no one will ever exceed 45 votes in the future.

And some interesting analysis in the Australian Financial Review this morning has led him to pose a particular question.

Veteran footy journalist Mike Sheahan then weighed in on the conversation of only midfielders winning the Brownlow, stating forwards in particular are hard done by.

“This is not new,” Sheahan told Tom Elliott.
