The push to unleash the ‘hidden army’ isn’t going away
The push to unleash a “hidden army” of part-time workers in Australia isn’t going away.
In fact, it’s claimed it’s gaining momentum.
The Albanese government is said to be considering a plan to let people over the age of 66 and six months be allowed to do extra work, without losing their entitlement to the aged pension.
It would help many businesses who are crying out for casual staff.
Ian Henschke, Chief Advocate for National Seniors, said they were currently seeking funding to present modelling to government about the financial win it would be for Australia.
“The big concern from government is that it’s going to cost money,” he said.
“We have to convince Treasury.”
