The peacock that was ordered out of town by Casey council
A peacock has been ordered out of town by Casey council.
The peacock, named Andrew, has lived in the area for a number of years, and is a friend of the neighbourhood.
But complaints about his recent nighttime noise has forced the council to order his removal.
Councillor Geoff Ablett told Ross and John further research revealed the peacock had been crying out for a mate.
‘The average male has three or four peahens,’ Cr Ablett said.
‘He hasn’t got any female companions. He’s not living his natural life.’
Cr Ablett, a member of Hawthorn’s 1976 and 1978 premiership teams, said the decision was made with the bird’s welfare in mind.
